4th-generation Trani chef is in cook-off

He was taught how to saute and simmer delectable dishes by his father and grandfather in the family restaurant, Trani's, a San Pedro landmark since 1925.
Today, Dustin Trani, 23, a fourth-generation chef and restauranteur, is representing California at the 4th annual Great American Seafood Cook-Off in New Orleans.
Trani studied at the Culinary Institute of America and is the corporate executive chef for Contessa Premium Foods, as well as the executive chef at his family's restaurant in San Pedro.
Trani is among 19 U.S. chefs who will compete for the title of King or Queen of American Seafood at the Louisiana Foodservice Expo in New Orleans.
